KEEPING CHANNELS OPEN

Supporting Euro-atlantiC Cooperation

Our Mission

  • Keeping Channels Open is a dynamic new initiative aimed at generating ideas and strengthening connections between UK, US & EU and other partners in the wake of Brexit, Trump and waves of populism and disinformation. It was launched in September 2020 as a cross-party, cross-border network by independent partners & the Friedrich Naumann Foundation.
  • Through a series of events, we are hosting multi-disciplinary groups of politicians and governance practitioners, experts and strategists, community leaders and campaigners, to debate how to cooperate on the most pressing issues of the day.
  • Together, our growing network is spreading understanding, brainstorming solutions and finding common ground in US-UK-Europe relations and beyond – amid massive disruption to our economies and way of life and varied challenges to liberal democracy, security and values-based multilateralism.
  • We are tackling critical topics like how to end the war in Ukraine and strengthen security & resilience; ways to improve UK-EU trade & cooperation after Brexit and the meaning of Global Britain; connecting UK-EU at the city and regional level; reshaping European and American leadership in today’s world; strengthening international coordination on health, science & environment; managing culture wars, disinformation and polarisation, and crafting an effective transatlantic foreign policy and reinvigorated multilateralism.
